Job Type: Carpentry Apprenticeship

 

S. J. Root are pleased to offer apprenticeship opportunities for those looking to begin a career in carpentry. 

​

Carpentry is one of the most skilled roles in construction, and to succeed as a carpenter or joiner you will have a keen eye for detail, adequate maths skills for measuring and calculating angles and the ability to follow technical drawings and plans.

​

Carpentry apprentices will be working alongside and assisting trained carpenters in a variety of joisting, roofing, 1st and 2nd fix carpentry.

​

An excellent working knowledge of wood and it's various types/uses is important, as well as an understanding of how the finished product will fit into a building.

​

On the job training will be provided, and apprentices will work towards a Level 2 qualification in Site Carpentry from a college local to the sites you are working on.

​

Requirements: 

• Education - a reasonable standard of Maths and English is desirable

• Skills - good woodworking skills and ability to read drawings

• Personal qualities - reliable with a good attitude and able to work using own initiative

S. J. Root are based in High Garrett, Braintree but apprentices could be working anywhere in and around Essex, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire and the surrounding areas. Own transport is desirable.

Standard working hours are 07:30 - 16:30 Monday - Friday, however you may attend college one day per week, with site work taking up the remaining 4 days.
